High blood pressure is actually a disorder of the blood vessels which results in the supply of oxygen and nutrients being carried by the blood being obstructed to reach the body tissues that need it. Hypertension in the elderly requires treatment without causing side effects which aims to prevent morbidity and mortality and maintain normal blood pressure. So that non-pharmacological treatment is carried out. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be done is by administering Guided Imagery relaxation therapy (guided imagery). This study aims to determine the effect of guided imagery relaxation therapy on changes in blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension in the working area of ??the Sienjo Health Center, Pinotu Village. The research design uses a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest and post test design. The research subjects were the elderly with age ? 55 years as many as 44 respondents. Data collection techniques with survey and observation methods. Based on the results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, a significance value or p = 0.000 (p = 0.000 <0.05) is obtained and it can be interpreted that there is a significant effect between guided imagery relaxation therapy and hypertension in the elderly.
There is an effect of guided imagery relaxation therapy on changes in blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension in the working area of ??the Sienjo Health Center, Pinotu Village. It is expected that health institutions can combine pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies to prevent client morbidity and mortality, namely by guided imagery therapy
